📋 Exam Subject
Limited Departmental Competitive Examination (LDCE) for promotion to the cadre of Postal Assistant (Circle Office), Postal Assistant (Post Office) and Sorting Assistant (Railway Mail Service) from eligible MTS / Postman / Mail Guard officials for the Vacancy Year 2026 (01.01.2026 to 31.12.2026).

- Issue of Admit Card by CO/RO/DO to eligible candidates. 06.07.2026 (Monday)

⏰ Exam Centre: All Circle Headquarters (e.g., Ambala Cantt for Haryana) — candidates appear from their own Circle centre only.
📄 Exam conducted as per revised pattern & syllabus vide Directorate letter No. 17-08/2018-SPB-I dt. 10.05.2019 read with subsequent amendments.
💻 Data Entry Skill Test (DEST) will be conducted subsequently after written exam, as per Directorate letter no. 17-08/2018-SPN-I dt. 19.12.2022.
🚫 Note: Paper-II (Local Language) component has been removed vide letter no. 17-08/2018-SPN-I dt. 29.05.2024.

Eligibility Criteria (As on 01.01.2026)
As per DoP (PA & SA) Recruitment Rules 2022 [GSR 459(E) dt. 17.06.2022] as amended by Amendment Rules 2023 [GSR 21(E)] and Amendment [G.S.R. 470(E) dt. 01.08.2024]:
📌 Category A — Direct Eligibility
Level 3 + 3 years regular service in Level 3
Level 3 + 5 years combined service (Level 1+2+3)
Level 2 + 5 years regular service (incl. Level 1)
Level 1 + 5 years regular service in Level 1
📌 Category B — GDS Combined Service
Level 1/2/3 + 8 years total regular service incl. GDS service
If GDS service rendered on or before 17.06.2022 → 5 years combined service sufficient
Cat B eligible only if Cat A officials insufficient
⚠️ Note 3: Eligibility is based on substantively held post & Pay Level — not the level drawn under TBOP/BCR/MACP etc.
⚠️ Note 4: Seniors short of qualifying service by not more than half the service or 2 years (whichever less) are also eligible, if probation complete and same feeder cadre.

🗳️ Allotment: Cadre (PA-CO / PA-PO / SA-RMS) and Division/Unit allotment is on merit-cum-preference basis as per DoP letter No. W-04/8/2022-SPN-I dt. 26.10.2023.
📋 Applicants must indicate preference for Cadre and Division/Unit in Annexure-III proforma.
